NEO Men’s Basketball Coach resigns: Assistant Coach Blake Mills named Interim Coach

Neo logoMIAMI, Okla. — NEO Director of Athletics Joe Renfro says Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jeremy Jackson has stepped down for another coaching opportunity.

Coach Jackson has been a dedicated member of the Golden Norsemen program, initially joining the team as an assistant coach before being named head coach in 2019. Under his leadership, the team experienced continued growth both on and off the court.

“We thank Coach Jackson for his leadership and integrity during his time at NEO,” said NEO Director of Athletics, Joe Renfro. “He has made a lasting impact on our student-athletes and the men’s basketball program. We wish him the very best with his next chapter.”

To ensure continuity for the 2025–26 season, Assistant Coach Blake Mills has been named Interim Head Coach. The decision was made to support current recruitment efforts and retain key players during this time of transition.

Mills recently completed his third season with the NEO Men’s Basketball program and brings with him a wealth of experience within NJCAA Region 2, both as a player and a coach. He began his college coaching career in 2018 at Eastern Oklahoma State College under veteran coach Scott Edgar, who also coached Mills during his playing days. During his tenure at Eastern, he played an integral role in guiding the team to consecutive 20-win seasons, while also managing recruiting, player development, academic support, team travel, and budget oversight.

Coach Mills holds an associate degree from Eastern Oklahoma State, a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Rogers State University, and a master’s degree in sports administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

“Coach Mills’ deep connection with our student-athletes and his knowledge of the Region 2 landscape make him an ideal choice to lead the program this season,” said Renfro. “We are confident in his ability to continue our momentum and look forward to seeing how he develops in this leadership role.”
