Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe on storm relief, accomplishments, tax reforms

Mike Kehoe has been Missouri Governor for a few weeks.

On Friday’s KZRG Morning Newswatch, Kehoe talked about what his biggest accomplishment has been:

The biggest thing that we have to start off with is the budget. That’s the only thing that the state in the house and senate are constitutionally required to do. We took a conservative vision to a budget, your own areas, Dirk Deacon as a budget chair in the house, and he’s done a wonderful job of crafting what the house version of that should be like, and I’ve very much enjoyed working with him.”

One of Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe’s accomplishments is the new crime bill.

A large credit to the house and the senate for moving a crime bill through that had 25 provisions that helps our men and ladies who protect our communities, incredibly quick, so that we could get some of these measures out into our state for those law enforcement agencies. We were able to sign that crime bill just about a little over a week and a 1/2 ago.”

Governor Mike Kehoe has kept busy/;

Kehoe told Newstalk KZRG:

March 15th we had some incredibly tragic storms that moved across mainly south and Southeast parts of our state. We’ve been dealing with those obviously we had to activate the National Guard for anticipated flooding down south Missouri. So there’s always something going on that isn’t exactly planned for, that mother nature or the good Lord throws you and you figure out a way to deal with it.”

One of Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe’s tax policies is to get rid of the state income tax:

Tax policy. I think is one of the biggest things you have to have in order for companies to look at you. The house and senate have both passed some versions of tax policy improvements, relieving that capital gains tax from Missourians and some other pieces, Curtis Trent from Springfield, Ben Baker and Bishop Davidson down from your area for all working on a proposal to eliminate state income tax. Which is something I’m very in favor of.”

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has been talking with the White House about needing help with storm recovery:

And let me tell you the White House has been fantastic and the Trump administration has been literally the night of March 14th at 11 at night, I was on the phone with them when tornadoes were starting to hit that southeast area of our state. We sent the President just this week a request for a federal disaster declaration. We’re hopeful and believe that he’ll move on that pretty quickly.”
