One from Joplin killed, one seriously injured in Peterbilt accident near Halltown

An accident involving a Peterbilt semi truck on I-44 east of Halltown killed a 26 year old male driver and seriously injured his 18-year-old female occupant.

Both driver and occupant resided in Joplin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened about 2:15 Tuesday afternoon when the semi experienced a tire defect.

The driver overcorrected and the truck overturned in the median. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Greene County Medical Examiner.

The passenger was taken by air to a Springfield hospital
