Two in custody in Pittsburg in connection with drug investigation

On early Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025, shortly after 3 a.m.,  Pittsburg Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of E. 21st Street, in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of three individuals trying to open the front door to a residence.

Two subjects were immediately detained without incident, but the third subject fled the area.

The two remaining subjects were identified and questioned about their actions. It was determined that one of the subjects, 33-year-old Rickey D. Cain, of Pittsburg, had an active warrant for his arrest through the Crawford County District Court

Cain was taken into custody without incident

After being arrested, an unidentified substance, believed to possibly be illegal drugs, was located on Cain’s person. This substance is pending further forensic examination to determine if it is an illegal substance, at which point criminal charges will be sought

Cain was transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking on the district court warrant. He is currently being held without bond. 

Later that morning, at approximately 4:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of E. 21st Street, in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a subject trespassing in the back yard of the residence.

Upon arrival, officers located a female subject, later identified as 37-year-old Irella L. Burton, of Pittsburg, hiding in a shed behind the residence.

Officers took Burton into custody without incident and identified her as being the third person who fled from them during the call in the 200 block of E. 21st Street around 3:00 AM. After being arrested, items believed to be methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia were located on Burton’s  person

Burton was transported to the jail at the Crawford County SheriffsOffice where she was booked in for felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor trespassing.

Burton is currently being held without bond

Cain and Burton are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
