Driver charged with DWI after Thursday evening accident in Golden City

A Barton County man was charged with DWI following a single-vehicle accident in Barton County on Thursday.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, March 6th on Southeast 70th Lane, 11 miles northwest of Golden City, when 2006 Dodge Ram travelled off the right side of the roadway, struck a bridge, and then overturned.

81-year-old Daniel J. Copeland of Golden City was charged with misdemeanor DWI.

He was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with serious injuries.
