Joplin man killed after motorcycle collides with car

A man from Joplin has died from his injuries after a motorcycle crash over the weekend.
It happened at noon on Sunday, when Joplin Police say a car was making a left turn onto Maiden Lane from 23rd Street. A motorcycle, driven by 50-year-old Douglas Greer, was northbound on Maiden Lane when a collision happened in the outside lane.
Greer was thrown from the motorcycle after striking the rear side panel of the car.
Greer was taken to a Joplin hospital with serious injuries but reportedly passed away on Wednesday.
Police say excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
This marks the first traffic fatality in Joplin for 2025.
