Spears no longer employed by Office of Public Defender’s office

A man who served time for the death of nine-year-old Rowan Ford is no longer employed by the Missouri Public Defender’s Office.
Republican statehouse leaders recently made strong statements criticizing the Office of Public Defender’s decision to employ David Spears.
At the same time, they urged the office to make a change
Spears pleaded guilty to a lesser charge to his role in the 2007 murder of his Rowan Ford in McDonald County.
Her killer, Christopher Collings, was executed last month.
