Charges filed after murder in Carthage

Charges are being filed after an apparent murder in Carthage, Missouri, Saturday night.

It happened around 11:30pm in the 300 block of W. Vine, when police were called to a disturbance involving a weapon.

A 22-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound and taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries. His name has not been made public.

An investigation determined that the suspect, 19-year-old Elijah Hardee, of Joplin, had fled to Galena, Kansas.

He was arrested around 9:45am Sunday morning without incident.

The investigation continues.
