Human remains identified as those of transgender Grove woman

Human remains found in northeast Oklahoma Friday have been identified as that of a transgender woman from Grove who had been missing nearly six years.
Authorities say the remains of 31-year-old Aubrey Dameron were found near South 565 Road and East 30 Road, in the ghost town of Cardin, north of Commerce.
Forensic Anthropologists with the Oklahoma Medical Examiners (ME) Office were called and responded to the scene where they searched the area and collected the remains.
The remains were taken to the ME’s office for further examination and identification before being confirmed as that of Dameron’s, who was an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation.
Aubrey was last seen during the early morning hours on March 9, 2019, leaving her mother’s house in the Grove area, leaving her purse at the residence, with plans to meet someone.
Since then, numerous interviews have been conducted and leads followed up on several agencies.
Her case was featured on a Dateline NBC podcast in 2022.
If you have any more information about the case, please contact the Quapaw Nation Marshal Service at (918) 238-3137 or Central Dispatch at (918) 542-5585.
The investigation into Aubrey’s death is being led by the Quapaw Nation Marshal Service Investigative Division in close collaboration with the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, BIA Missing and Murdered Unit and the FBI.
