Cherokee Chief Hoskin praises Biden’s clemency for Leonard Peltier

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr. has issued a statement former President Biden’s granting clemency to American Indian activist, Leonard Peltier.

Hoskin said the decision reflects a critical step toward reconciliation for Peltier and all native Americans.

Pelter was convicted of two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of two FBI agents in 1975.

Biden’s action commuted the 80-year-old Peltier’s sentence to indefinite house arrest.
