58th Maple Leaf Festival in Carthage

The Carthage Maple Leaf Festival continues today, Friday.  Julie Reams with the Carthage Chamber of Commerce told Newstalk KZRG:

“Our Friday night concert on the Carthage square starts at 8 PM. With the band “Members Only” performing all of the best 80s hits.  That will go until 10:30.”

The 58th annual Maple Leaf Parade will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning, starting on the historic Carthage square and winding through the historic city.

Newstalk KZRG, Kix 102.5, Big Dog 97.9, Classic Hits 93.9 and Kissin 92.5 will be there driving in the parade.

The event draws thousands of people each year to the city and entries include bands, floats, organizations and colorful vehicles.

Julie Reams says there are lots of other events on Saturday.

“After the parade, the square opens up to the vendors, food vendors, arts and crafts, all of our stores around the square will be open as well.  We have a Renaissance fair that will be taking place that starts down at Faith Lutheran Church, along with the car show and tractor show at Central Park, along with the annual car show that will be at the Vietnamese center on Grand Street.  Then a truck and tractor pull.  And we’ll end with another country concert on the square at 7 PM with a band called “Midnight South.”
