Biden, other Democrats condemn political violence following Trump rally shooting

President Biden and other Democrats in Missouri and in Washington, D.C. have condemned political violence following the shooting on Saturday at a rally for President Trump in Pennsylvania.
“We cannot allow this to be happening,” President Biden said. “The idea that there’s violence in America like this is just unheard of.”
Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Russ Carnahan released the following statement:
Violent political acts and rhetoric have no place in America. This is a time for leaders of all parties to resolve to bridge our deep and dangerous divisions.
“Our hearts go out to all the victims and their families, and we express our deep thanks to the Secret Service and related law enforcement for their prompt response.”
“I am horrified by what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said in a statement. “Political violence has no place in our country.”
“My thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) echoed in a statement on X. “I am thankful for the decisive law enforcement response. America is a democracy. Political violence of any kind is never acceptable.”
“As one whose family has been the victim of political violence, I know firsthand that political violence of any kind has no place in our society. I thank God that former President Trump is safe,” former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) wrote on X.
