81st annual Carver Day commemoration this Saturday


The 81th annual Carver Day commemoration, celebrating the life of George Washington Carver and the establishment of the National Monument in his honor on July 14, 1943, is slated for Saturday, July 12.
The event will run from 10 a.m.t o 3 p.m.
Activities for kids and more! Guest musicians include Arlecia Elkamil – Percussionist and Gospel Singer, St. Monica Music Ministry, Jahfi Studio Traditional West African Dance and Drums, and Sensational Wonders Gospel Singing Group and Blues Guitarist Lem Sheppard.
Guest speakers this year are Alex Primm, historian speaking on George Washington Carver as one of Missouri’s Natural Heroes and Edith Powell retired professor and author of a book on George Washington Carver.
There is no charge to attend and the public is invited.
