A few spots remain in Pitt State summer music camps for youth, teachers 

A few spots remain in upcoming summer music camps for youth offered by the Music Department at Pitt State. Each camp costs just $20 to $35 and includes a meal and instruction. A "camp" for vocal teachers also has spots remaining, and credit is available if desired.

Camps will be held at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

Registration can be completed at pittstate.edu/summercamps.

High School Band Camp • June 13

Students will take their musicianship to the next level in rehearsals, sectionals, and master classes with faculty and university students, then perform in an evening concert for families and the public with the Pittsburg Community Band. A t-shirt to be worn in the concert is included in the cost of the camp. Cost: $35

Middle & High School String Camp • June 27-28

Students will attend orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, and master classes with faculty and university students, then perform in an evening concert for families and the public at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts. Cost: $35

High School District Music Workshop • July 29 Students will build music fundamentals to get a head start on preparing for District and State auditions. They will work with faculty and area professional musicians on tone, rhythm, technique, and phrasing, and learn many helpful tips to be successful at the audition process. Cost: $20

Teacher Vocal Music Workshop • June 19-20 Cost $150* • Directed by Assistant Professor Lydia Bechtel and Instructional Professor Patrick Howle

Teachers will refresh their approach to applied voice lessons with valuable sessions on vocal pedagogy, diction review, repertoire selection, audition preparation, a student master class, and more. Teachers may register for an optional $99 fee to earn 1 hour of credit. To earn credit, apply for admission for Summer 2024 as a non-degree seeking student at pittsatte.edu/apply. Once admitted, contact the Registrar at 620-235-4200 to be enrolled in MUSIC 589.01
