Accident on Highway 43 in Newton County injures two

Two Joplin residents were injured in a Saturday morning accident on Missouri 43 about a mile south of Joplin in Newton County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred about 8:15 a.m. when when a southbound 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by 94-year-old Clifford R. Trewin of Joplin failed to yield and turned into the path of a northbound 2013 Ford F-150 pickup driven by 68-year-old Mark Rich of Grove, Oklahoma.
Trewin and an occupant in his car, 78-year-old Charles F. Wilkins of Joplin, both suffered moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Rich was not injured.
