Hiebert named Ozark 7 Conference Co-Female Athlete of the Year
JOPLIN, MO – Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School (TJIDS) multi-sport senior athlete Gabriella “Gabbi” Hiebert has been named Ozark 7 Conference Co-Female Athlete of the Year.
Named after Wheaton coach Tracy Prigg, the award is a symbol of excellence and athleticism.
Each year, the conference athletic directors select one female and male senior athlete who is the top overall athlete in the conference to receive this award.
At TJIDS, Hiebert has played a pivotal role on the volleyball, basketball, and track teams, all of which have had successful seasons this school year.
She helped the volleyball team make history this season by winning the district championship and their first state sectional game in 23 years. Hiebert also led the Lady Cavaliers Basketball Team to an Ozark 7 conference title and the first district championship title since 1999. The success continued during track season, with the Girls’Track Team winning the Ozark 7 conference title and the district championship.
Hiebert was the conference champion in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump and was a member of the 4×100 relay team.
Along with a successful senior year for her athletics teams, Hiebert was named First-Team All- District and First-Team All-Conference for volleyball, along with Academic All-State and First- Team All-Conference for basketball this season.
Hiebert went on to humbly acknowledge the collective effort that propelled her to success in athletics, “All my coaches and teammates from volleyball, basketball, and track not only helped me to succeed and win numerous awards such as this one, but they also left a lasting impact on me that goes far beyond athletics. I am beyond grateful for this recognition and want to thank all my teammates, family, and coaches, especially my basketball coach Lindsey Showalter, for the unwavering support,” said Hiebert.
Hiebert will graduate from TJIDS on Sunday, May 19, and plans to attend Saint Louis University Honors College in the fall of 2024.
