The scheme involved multiple elected officials in neighboring Arkansas.

Bontiea Goss and her husband Tom Goss, were both sentenced to several years behind bars, in addition to being ordered to jointly pay four-point-35 million-dollars in forfeiture and/or restitution.

The Goss’s ran Preferred Family Healthcare, a charity that provided mental health services to people in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Illinois.

In exchange for bribes and kickbacks, elected officials in Arkansas provided favorable legislative and official action for the charity.

The charity has also agreed to pay more than eight-million in forfeiture and restitution to the federal government and the state of Arkansas.
