Carthage's Mark Twain Elementary School hit by lighting; All students and staff safe

Mid-morning thunderstorms brought a quick 3 - 6 inches of rain to portion of the Four-State Area. Carthage's Mark Twain Elementary School was evacuated after the school was struck by lightning. The Carthage Fire Department and the District's Maintenance Department performed a check to make sure the strike had caused no fire. During that time, students were moved to storm shelter rooms. Parents were updated by the school district after the school was completely checked and given the all-clear.
