Norm Stewart to be inducted into Hall of Famous Missourians

Retired Mizzou basketball coach Norm Stewart is the latest person named to the Hall of Famous Missourians.
The 89-year-old Stewart was born in northeastern Missouri’s Shelby County and played for Mizzou in the 1950’s after which he had a brief stint in the NBA.
He became Mizzou’s head coach in 1967 and coached the Tigers for more than three decades, winning 734 games, 8 Big Eight titles and making 16 NCAA tournament appearances.
He also founded the group Coaches versus Cancer after surviving colon cancer.
Stewart’s induction ceremony is scheduled May first at 1-PM in the Missouri House chamber.
