National Weather Service predicts chance of cloud cover during eclipse

The National Weather Service is predicting high temperatures in the 70s and lows in the 50s on Monday.

However, during the time the eclipse takes place, temperatures are predicted to drop by 5-10 degrees.

In Joplin, the 2024 eclipse will start at 12:34 p.m., reach maximum eclipse at 1:52 p.m., and end at 3:10 p.m.

The NWS also is predicting 40 percent cloud cover in the path of totality and up to 70 percent outside of totality.

The chance of precipitation is less than 10 percent on Monday.

Cloud cover is on an upward trend.
