JATSO seeking public comments on TIP amendment

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is seeking a 7-day public comment period for amendments to the 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP contains transportation and transit projects in the Joplin Metropolitan Area that are partially funded by Federal transportation programs over a four-year period.

The proposed TIP amendments add 13 new transit projects.  The projects include additional federal and local funding for operational assistance, preventive maintenance, vehicle purchases and the creation of a long-range transit funding plan for the Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS) funded through the Areas of Persistent Poverty Grant Program.

The amendments are requested by the Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS).

The public comment period for this amendment begins on Saturday, May 30, 2024 at 8 a.m. and concludes on Friday, April 5at 12 p.m.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the TIP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for the Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS).
