Winfield Correctional Facility resident death

WINFIELD, Kansas. – Winfield Correctional Facility (WCF) resident Michael Lynn Youngblood died  today (Tuesday, March 19).

He collapsed while working with a crew picking up trash along a highway near Wichita.

EMS was called to administer life-saving measures. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy and is currently under investigation.

Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the KDOC, the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Youngblood, 59, was serving a 56-month sentence of Drug Possession with intent to distribute heroin or methamphetamine in McPherson County, Kansas.
