Fire in Joplin Sunday afternoon; one man in critical condition

One man is reported to be in critical condition at an area hospital following a structure fire Sunday afternoon in the 3100 Block of East 12th Street in Joplin.

One man inside a shed structure who had been burning something in a trash barrel reportedly was taken from the scene by METS ambulance.

Firefighters also combated a grass fire that spread from the rear of that area along a tree line.

The Joplin Fire Marshal is investigating.

Any form of burning is being discouraged due to the windy conditions in the 4-State area.
