Barry County accident injures three, one seriously

A Sunday afternoon crash at Highway 97 at Farm Road 2040  south of Monett in Barry County resulted in serious injuries to a woman from Monett.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a Ford Explorer driven by 18-year-old Hunter W. Shrum of Monett attempted to make a left turn without yielding and was hit by a GMC Sierra driven by 45-year-old Eric S. Cahalan of Sarcoxie.

An occupant in Shrum’s vehicle, 78-year-old Mary F. Shrum of Monett, had serious injuries.

Hunter Shrum and moderate injuries and Cahalan had minor injuries.

All three were transported to hospitals in Joplin.
