Joplin Police release 2023 report, saw 18% increase in calls for service
2023 was a busy year for the Joplin Police Department.
According to their year end report (2023 Joplin PD Annual Report), they saw an 18% increase in calls for service over 2022.
Chief Richard Pearson says the year also saw a continued reduction in the number of traffic crashes by 5% within the city and a combined overall reduction of 5% in property crime and violent crime.
“The Joplin Police Department, when fully staffed, employs 113 sworn officers and 53 civilian members who serve in all areas of the Police Department, including the Emergency Communications Center and City Jail, as they carry out our mission to provide the highest level of professional service and protection through leadership and partnership with the community,” said Pearson. “Our outlook for 2024 is bright, as we continue to hire and train officers to meet the needs of the community.”
