Joplin’s Complete Streets initiative recognized; part of upcoming W. 20th project

During Downtown Joplin’s Third Thursday last October, Joplin’s Complete Streets Policy received attention during a ‘pop-up demonstration’ of this initiative.

Several transportation groups coordinated the effort to illustrate various scenarios within Complete Streets.

Complete Streets provides safety and accessibility for all users of our roadways and trail systems, including pedestrians, bicyclists, trolley users, motorists, emergency vehicles, freight and commercial vehicles, and people of all ages and abilities.

The City will utilize the Complete Streets initiative on the widening project of West 20th Street from Schifferdecker Avenue to Central City Road.
