Baxter Springs standoff ends with one arrest Friday

A man from Cherokee County, Kansas was arrested following a standoff with law enforcement in Baxter Friday afternoon.

Just after 2:00 p.m., Sheriff’s Investigators arrived to the 500 block of East 22nd Street and attempted to arrest 43-year-old Casey Robert Bronke on an outstanding warrant for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

Bronke allegedly barricaded himself inside the home and threatened to shoot and kill law enforcement.

Following the brief standoff, Bronke was taken into custody and several firearms were seized.

Bronke now also faces charges of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Felony Interference with Law Enforcement.
