Fire contained in Crawford County Sunday

In Crawford County, Kansas Baker Township Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire  Sunday evening in single digit temperatures at the Old Pittsburg Steel Building at 748 E 520th Avenue.

The building was being used for multiple purposes including equipment storage, heavy diesel repair, as well as general storage.

The Fire was contained to only a small portion of the building,

Along with District 1 (Baker Township), Pittsburg Fire Department, District 2 (Arma), District 3 (Sheridan), Cherokee Township, Galena FD, and Columbus FD all sent personnel and/or equipment to assist on-scene.
In addition, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County EMS, Kansas Gas, Evergy, and Crawford County Road and Bridge also assisted on-scene.
No one was injured and two pets that were missing at the time of the fire were later found safe.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal has been called in to assist in determining cause and origin.
Fire crews were on scene for about 4-1/2 hrs.
