Fatal fire in Seligman; firefighters hampered by frozen pumps

One person is dead in Seligman following a fire Sunday in southern Barry County near the Arkansas border.
Seligman Firefighters were dispatched to a 2-story structure fire around 11 a.m.
They were told before the arrived at the scene that one person was possibly still inside.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a house about 40% involved.
Crews made a very hard and aggressive attack, but both Seligman fire engines pumps and hand lines started freezing,” a statement from the Seligman Fire Department said.
Frozen hydrants also made filling water in fire engines difficult.
The Pea Ridge and Northeast Benton County Fire Departments responded to provide backup.
The body of one civilian was found after the fire was brought under control.
The name of the person has not been released.
The Seligman Fire Department expressed its thanks on Facebook to Barry County E-911, Mercy EMS, Washburn Fire, NEBCO Fire, Pea Ridge Fire, Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Barry County Sheriff’s Office.
