Hit and run accident on West 7th Street: Woman critically injured

The Joplin Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident that took place on West 7th Street around 6 p.m. Monday evening.

Initial reports say the female pedestrian was struck near 7th and Gray Ave. possibly by an dark SUV that broke a headlight during the crash.

The woman, reportedly in critical condition., was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance.

The Joplin Police Major Crash Team is investigating the accident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or may know about an SUV with a broken headlight is asked to call the JPD at 417-623-3131.
