Vehicle veers off I-49, hits embankment; driver injured

A driver from Jasper County suffered injuries in a one-vehicle accident on I-49 about 4 miles south of Joplin late Saturday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred around 10:57 a.m. when a southbound 2006 GMC Sierra driven by 34-year-old Ethan W. Coleman of Carl Junction traveled off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.

Coleman, who was not wearing a safety device, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Joplin hospital.
