Baxter Springs man found guilty of rape, indecent liberties with a child

A man from Baxter Springs, Kansas, has been found guilty of rape.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says after three hours of deliberating, a jury returned their verdict Thursday afternoon, following the trial of 36-year-old Jason L. Miller.

The trial came after Detectives began an investigation in November 2019, into Miller's criminal conduct with a juvenile.

The jury found Miller guilty on three counts of rape, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior.

Following the reading of the verdict, the Judge ordered Miller to be held in the Cherokee County Jail and scheduled his sentencing for December.
