Emergency alert test is scheduled for today

A nationwide emergency alert test is scheduled to sound at 1:20 Wednesday (this) afternoon. 

It is supposed to pop up on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs. 

Mobile phones that are on and within range of an active cell tower from a participating wireless provider should get the alert. 

Wireless providers will transmit the national test for 30 minutes, but cell phones should only receive it once. 

The standard test occurs at least once every three years.
