Former PTO treasurer accused of felony stealing from group's account

When you hold office in a Parent-Teacher Organization you're not supposed to use the funds in the group's bank account as your personal piggy bank.

But that's what a woman from Joplin is accused of doing.

Authorities reportedly say 40-year-old Katy Kelley, the former treasurer of the Royal Heights Elementary PTO,  made over 80 unauthorized withdrawals from the group's account,

Kelly reportedly did pay back about $24,000 of just over $26,000 she allegedly withdrew.

She's said to be charged with felony stealing and a single count of fraudulent use of a debit or credit device.

Reports say Kelley has pleaded not guilty.
