Bear involved in fatal attack on Kansas woman captured, euthanized

A spokesperson for the Montana department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks says a bear linked to the death of a woman from Derby, Kansas in July was caught and euthanized earlier this month.

47-year-old Amy Adamson, an author and former teacher, was fatally mauled while jogging on a trail in Yellowstone National Park.

She was not carrying bear spray which is recommended for hikers and runners in areas frequented by bears.

The 10-year-old grizzly was confirmed through genetic analysis to have been involved in the fatal attack.

Arrangements are being made to transfer the bear's 46-pound male cub to a zoo.
