California burial planned for World War II Naval Airman born in southwest Missouri

Aviation radioman 1st Class Wilbur Archie Mitts, who was shot down over Palau in the south Pacific during World War II, will be buried on Sept. 11th in Mission Memorial Park Cemetery, Seaside, California.

Mitts was born in Seligman in southwest Missouri and had lived in Seaside, California.

His plane was shot down on September 10, 1944.

Mitts had flown off the aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise.
