Ribbon cutting held for new 20th Street pedestrian crosswalk

Joplin City and Joplin Schools officials gathered today (Saturday) to officially open the new crosswalk on East 20th Street near Joplin High School.

High School student Christian Cavener championed this project and cut the ribbon for the group.

The City and School district worked together to bring this new crossing to a busy section of East 20th Street.

The crosswalk will have flashing beacons to help alert motorists to this crossing. Due to supply chain issues, the beacons have not arrived but will be installed soon.

Please watch for pedestrians, especially before and after school hours.

Everyone is encouraged to use caution at all pedestrian crossings.
