Murphy Boulevard closed between Illinois Ave and Campbell Parkway this afternoon

Murphy Boulevard will be closed beginning early this afternoon (Friday) between Illinois Ave./9th Street and Campbell Parkway.

The closure is expected to last a few hours and is occurring to perform patching at the railroad crossing.

A full replacement of the crossing is anticipated at a later date by the railroad company, but due to the current deterioration of a couple railroad ties, a patch is being done to improve the crossing until the full replacement can occur.

Drivers are urged to use extreme caution in the work area.
