Waterskiing accident causes serious injuries to Springfield woman

There was a serious waterskiing accident on the Point 5 White River Arm of Table Rock Lake on Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 37-year-old Melanie M. Carr of Springfield was injured Saturday afternoon after a boat piloted by 51-year-old Timothy Swearingen of Springfield began to accelerate to pull her onto board, causing injuries to her.

She was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident.

She was taken by EMS to Cox South Hospital in serious condition.
