Lozier Community Grants Fund awards $5,000 to Bright Futures Joplin
Grant award to support Snack Packs for food-insecure students

JOPLIN, Mo. – Bright Futures Joplin was awarded a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Lozier Community Grants Fund.
The funds will be used in support of food insecure students in the Joplin School District through Bright Futures Joplin’s Snack Pack program. The program provides a reliable food source over the weekends and during holiday breaks for students living in economic deprivation. In the 2022-23 academic year, Bright Futures Joplin provided an average of 500 Snack Packs each week, which was about 25% higher than the previous year.
“It’s been our ongoing mission at Bright Futures Joplin to make sure our food-insecure kids aren’t going hungry when they’re away from the stability of school meals,” said Bright Futures Joplin Executive Director Amanda Stone. “With food costs as high as they are, this support from Lozier will go a long way in helping provide shelf-stable food and milk for Snack Packs. We’re so grateful for community support like theirs.”
Bright Futures Joplin is a grassroots, community-based program which helps students achieve success by matching student needs with resources via community partnerships.
