Accident on Rt. 66 and Blackcat Road injures three

An accident on Missouri Rt. 66, about a mile west of Joplin around 7:35 Friday night resulted in injuries to three people.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred when a vehicle traveling north on Blackcat Road driven by 83-year-old Lee W. Williams of Joplin failed to yield to an eastbound Kenworth Flatbed tow-truck driven by 40-year-old Dustin M. Gilstrap of Joplin.

Both vehicles went off the roadway.

The tow-truck overturned and came to rest on its top.

Williams, his passenger 80-year-old Harriet I. Williams of Carl Junction, and Gilstrap all had moderate injuries. They were transported by EMS to Freeman West hospital in Joplin.
