Murder trial of Seneca woman starts today

Jury selection in the trial of a Seneca woman starts today.

62-year-old Susette Anderson is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the shooting death of 45-year-old David Wesley Stotts on December 23, 2021.

The shooting happened at 3966 Kentucky Road is Newton County.

Anderson told detectives she saw Stotts in a field next to a trailer and Winnebago.

She claimed to have bought a trailer from Stotts but thought he was stealing it.

Anderson was charged on the two-count complaint and is currently being  held on a no-bond warrant.

The trial is being held in McDonald County on a change of venue.
