Zora Avenue accident causes serious injuries to two

An accident on Zora Avenue about a mile east of Joplin resulted in serious injuries to two people around 12:40 p.m. on Friday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred when an eastbound 2003 Hummer driven by 51-year-old Jason E. Hamilton of Carthage traveled off the north side of the highway and hit a utility pole.

Hamilton suffered minor injuries. Two passengers - 31-year-old McKyla L. Bowen of Joplin and 32-year-old Amanda L. Pascoe of Carthage - did not fare as well.

They received serious injuries and were transported to Freeman West in Joplin.

Hamilton traveled to the same hospital by private vehicle.
