Missouri pays out nearly $1 million in harassment case

A Missouri prison guard has won a large settlement after she was harassed by her boss for being a Muslim.

A report issued last week by Attorney General Andrew Bailey shows Amina Alhalabi received a 159-thousand dollar check earlier this spring after she was illegally discriminated against at her job at a low security prison facility in Fulton.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, her attorneys received more than 800-thousand dollars, in addition to the payout she received.

Alhalabi, who is a native of Lebanon, began work as a correctional officer in Callaway County in 2012.
