Joplin Schools names new community development specialist

JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Gina Langston as the district’s next
Community Development Specialist.

Langston currently serves as the assistant director of Advertising at The Joplin Globe.

She has previously served as editor and publisher at The Greenfield Vedette, and the creative services supervisor at The Joplin Globe.

With an associate degree in graphic design technology from Ozarks Technical Community College, Langston is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Missouri Southern State University.

Langston is a member of the 2022 class of Leadership Joplin, and now serves on the Leadership
Joplin steering committee.

She currently volunteers as president of the Missouri Press Association’s Advertising and Marketing Executives board, and has previously served as the Vice President of the American Advertising Federation-Heartland board, including time as chair of the American Advertising (ADDY) awards.

“I am honored to be entrusted with fostering relationships between our community and the district,”
said Langston. “Together we can work to provide additional support for our students and expand on
their opportunities. I am thankful for this opportunity.”

Langston will succeed Dorothy Alsenz, who is retiring this year.

“We’re excited for Gina to bring her expertise and enthusiasm into the district, and she’s well-equipped
for the role,” said Joplin Schools superintendent Dr. Kerry Sachetta. “She’ll be a great fit to build
relationships and grow new opportunities for our community partners and sponsors to support our
students and programs.”
