Missouri’s drought conditions continue to worsen.
In the latest U.S. Drought Monitor survey, 94% of the state is dry and 52% of Missouri is experiencing severe drought.
Nearly 20% of the state is in the extreme drought category, which increased 4% from last week.
The monitor says that drought conditions can cause major crop and/or pasture losses, in addition to possible water shortages or restrictions.
Additionally, the dry weather is creating potential problems for corn and soybean production this growing season, as well as hay production reporting to be one-third of normal.
In May, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson declared a Drought Alert for Missouri because of the, then, dry conditions.
