Fatality accident in Asbury Saturday evening

A man from Asbury died in an accident on Main Street in that community around 8:25 Saturday evening.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred when an eastbound 1974 Chevy Vega driven by 37-year-old Dewey A. Lewis of Asbury ran off the roadway.
It then struck a utility pole and a tree.
The car was reportedly being tested as a race car but did not contain complete racing-grade safety equipment.
Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
