Riverton man in custody for allegedly shooting at family member

A man from Riverton, Kansas, has been apprehended after his alleged involvement in a shooting Tuesday evening.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says just before 6:00 pm Tuesday, deputies responded to the shooting north of Riverton.
The victim, who was not injured, had been shot at multiple times by a family member. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Joshua Ferguson, fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
On Wednesday morning, an arrest warrant was issued for Ferguson, charging him with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Threat.
As a result of their investigation, Cherokee County Detectives learned Ferguson was hiding out in Webb City, Missouri, Wednesday morning. Through a coordinated effort with Missouri law enforcement, Ferguson was located and apprehended. Ferguson is being held in the Jasper County Jail, pending extradition back to Kansas.
