Missouri lawmakers pass ban on texting while driving

(Jefferson City) -- The Missouri Legislature has given the green light to a ban on texting while driving. The proposal would prohibit drivers from holding and using their cell phones and other electronic devices, but drivers would still be able to use their voice-activated or hands-free functions. It would also allow car dealers in the state to collect sales tax on vehicles before the buyer leaves the car lot. The measure heads to the governor for a decision.
