Joplin Police arrest 17-year-old on burglary charges

A teenager is facing charges after an alleged burglary Tuesday. Read the full press release below:

On May 2nd, 2023 at 6:28 p.m. officers with the Joplin Police Department responded to 2204 W. 3rd Street for a report of a trespassing.

Through further investigation it was learned a burglary had taken place. A review of surveillance video images revealed a suspect had entered the building and used a BB gun to shoot at surveillance cameras on the premises.

An officer recognized the suspect as a 17-year-old juvenile male and were able to locate him at this residence.

The juvenile was accepted into the Jasper County Juvenile Detention Center on 2nd Degree Burglary charges and the case was turned over to juvenile authorities.
